The Midwest Region hosted its tenth annual Women for Science Luncheon, this time in a virtual format. Chaired by Midwest Regional Board member Rona Wolf and Bess Ekstein, the event honored Dr. Melissa Simon of Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine with the Vision & Impact Award. Keynote speaker Dr. Sivan Refaely-Abramson of Weizmann's Department of Materials and Interfaces discussed her cutting-edge investigations to design the materials of the future, with important implications for renewable energy. All proceeds from the virtual luncheon supported the Chicago Area Fund for Women Scientists, strengthening Weizmann's efforts to remove roadblocks and empower trailblazing, curiosity-driven researchers.
