Frontiers of the Universe: Reaching for the Stars

This webinar introduces Weizmann’s flagship Frontiers of the Universe initiative. Frontiers of the Universe will advance the Institute’s pioneering efforts to understand the nature of space, time, and life itself—from the tiniest subatomic particles to the largest galaxies.

The webinar features two of the intrepid scientists behind this exciting initiative: Prof. Avishay Gal-Yam, Department of Particle Physics and Astrophysics, and Prof. Oded Aharonson, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. Following an introduction by American Committee National Board member Dr. Mark Alexander, Prof. Gal-Yam discusses some of the exciting aims of the Frontiers project—including launching Weizmann’s ULTRASAT satellite into space. Prof. Aharonson then highlights his innovative interplanetary research, which the Frontiers project will accelerate. To conclude the event, the two scientists engage in a lively Q&A, moderated by American Committee CEO Dave Doneson.
