Weizmann Global Gathering 2014: Partners in Innovation, Prof. Deborah Fass

Prof. Deborah Fass speaks at the Partners in Innovation session of the Weizmann Institute’s 2014 Global Gathering about her work with proteins. She and her team search for the functions of the body’s many proteins, which are involved in numerous physical processes – each of which is itself an “intricate dance” at the nanoscale level. There are around 100,000 types of proteins, and, in turn, many varieties of each of these – to put this in scale, Prof. Fass stated that the total number of proteins in our organism is about the number of observable stars in the universe. “Each of us,” she says, “is an entire protein universe.”
