Plant Power: Nourishing and Healing the World
Monday, March 02, 2020 06:00 PM - 09:00 PM (UTC-5:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
We stand with all those calling for the release of the remaining hostages in Hamas captivity, and we mourn for those who have lost their lives. We recognize the profound toll this crisis has had on the people of Israel and the region at large, including our colleagues at the Weizmann Institute of Science and their families. We yearn for a future of lasting peace, where the ideals of our community are embodied throughout: collaboration, freedom, and the pursuit of truth.

PROF. ASAPH AHARONI
The Peter J. Cohn Professorial Chair
Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences
Weizmann Institute of Science
How do we address world hunger and malnutrition? How can we combat the effects of climate change on agriculture? How can we harness the power of nature to fight a host of diseases? These are among the vital questions Prof. Asaph Aharoni’s innovative plant research is tackling. Studying the chemicals plants produce during development or under stress, Prof. Aharoni is paving the way for more nutritious, pest-resistant crops. Using cutting-edge technology, he is also exploring how cannabis — and its active ingredients like cannabidiol (CBD) — can contribute to biomedicine.
Join us to learn how this pioneering plant scientist is shaping a healthier planet.
