Eleanore Levy Named Director of Personalized Philanthropy at American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science

HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA—February 7, 2012—The American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science announced that Eleanore Levy has been appointed its first Director of Personalized Philanthropy. Located in Israel, the Weizmann Institute is one of the world’s top-ranking centers of multidisciplinary science research and graduate study.

Levy brings to the American Committee extensive fundraising experience at higher education and nonprofit organizations. For the past 12 years, she held senior development positions at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, most recently, as Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship. As Director of Gift Planning, she worked directly with donors to facilitate multimillion-dollar gifts. Her accomplishments included securing the second largest donation ever in the university’s history. Earlier, she served as a Planned Giving Officer at The Women’s Foundation and the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, California. Levy received a BA from Hunter College and completed graduate studies at Brooklyn College in New York. She is a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science, where her interest in scientific research was initially sparked.

In her new role, Levy will help shape the development of the American Committee’s Center for Personalized Philanthropy, which provides opportunities for individuals, families, and foundations to maximize their charitable impact. By combining gifts that favor both donors and the Weizmann Institute, philanthropists can become partners with scientists in the search for solutions to some of the world’s most challenging issues. Her efforts will focus on cultivating relationships with donors in the American Committee’s South Florida and Palm Beach Regions.

“We are delighted to welcome Eleanore Levy to our growing team,” said Lawrence S. Blumberg, Chairman of the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science. “Her fundraising knowledge and vision are critical assets as we seek new ways of strengthening and expanding the Weizmann family of supporters in Florida and beyond.”
