Over 40 teams from around the world competed in the 19th International Safecracking Tournament at the Davidson Institute of Science Education, the youth education arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science. The competition challenges high school students to put their knowledge of physical principles and their imagination to the test.
Using a wooden box, each team had to design and build a locked safe that could only be opened using the principles of physics; they also raced against the clock to crack open safes created by other teams.
